5052 vs 6061 Hliníkový plech: Ako si vybrať

5052-H32 a 6061-T6 sú dve najčastejšie špecifikované zliatiny hliníkových plechov vo všeobecnom strojárstve, and the question of which to use comes up constantly. They overlap in price and availability, but they are built on different metallurgical principles and behave very differently in service.

The short version: 5052 is the corrosion-resistant, formable, weldable alloy. 6061 is the stronger, machinable, heat-treatable structural alloy. Most of the decision follows from which of those you need.

Pevnosť: 6061 wins clearly

6061-T6 is significantly stronger:

  • Ťahový: ~290 MPa versus ~210–260 MPa
  • Výťažok: ~240 MPa versus ~160 MPa

Yield strength is the number that matters for most structural design, because it is the point at which the material permanently deforms. 6061 gives roughly 50% more yield strength than 5052-H32.

If your design is strength-limited and weight matters, 6061 is the answer. If your design is stiffness-limited, všimnite si to both alloys have essentially the same elastic modulus (~ 69 GPA) — stiffness does not improve by switching alloy, only by changing section geometry.

This is a common and expensive misunderstanding. Switching from 5052 do 6061 does not make a panel stiffer. Only a thicker section or a different shape does.

Korózia: 5052 wins clearly

5052 is an Al-Mg alloy with excellent corrosion resistance, particularly in:

  • Seawater and salt spray — it is the standard marine sheet alloy
  • Marine and industrial atmospheres
  • Many chemical environments

6061 has good general corrosion resistance but is more susceptible to pitting and intergranular corrosion in chloride environments, and to stress corrosion cracking in some tempers and service conditions.

For anything going into or near the sea, or exposed to de-icing salt, 5052 is the safer choice — and 5083 if the application is structural marine.

Zváranie: 5052 wins

  5052 6061
Zvárateľnosť Výborne Dobre, but with a significant caveat
As-welded strength Retains most of its strength Loses substantial strength in the heat-affected zone
Post-weld heat treatment Not applicable Can restore strength, but is impractical for most fabrications

This is the single most consequential difference for fabricated structures.

6061-T6 derives its strength from heat treatment. Welding reheats the heat-affected zone and over-agees it, dropping the strength in that zone to roughly that of the annealed condition. For a welded 6061 štruktúru, the designer must use reduced allowable stresses near welds, or accept the weight penalty of thicker sections.

5052 is not heat treatable, so welding does not remove strength that was put there by heat treatment. It softens the annealed-and-work-hardened structure somewhat, but retains far more of its strength.

If you are building a welded assembly, 5052 (alebo 5083 for higher strength) is usually the better choice.

Obrábanie: 6061 wins

6061-T6 machines cleanly, producing manageable chips and good surface finish. 5052 is gummier — it tends to produce long chips, built-up edge on the tool, and a poorer finish.

If your part requires substantial machining, 6061 will save time, tooling and frustration. This is one of the main reasons 6061 dominates in machined parts, fixtures and general engineering components.

Forming and bending: 5052 wins

5052-H32 bends readily with a tight minimum bend radius and resists cracking. 6061-T6 is significantly less forgiving — it will crack at tight radii, particularly across the grain.

  5052-H32 6061-T6
Minimum bend radius Tight — often 1× thickness or less Wider — commonly 2× to 6× thickness depending on thickness and direction
behaviour when bent Tvárne Náchylné na praskanie

If you need to bend 6061-T6 tightly, consider forming in the T4 or O condition and heat treating to T6 afterwards, or specify a wider bend radius in the design.

If bending is central to your fabrication, 5052 is the easier material to work with.

Eloxovanie

Both anodize acceptably. Nuances:

  • 5052 — anodizes well but can show slight colour variation across large areas; 5005 alebo 6063 are better where colour match is critical
  • 6061 — generally good, slightly better clarity than 5052; widely used for anodized parts

For decorative anodizing where exact colour consistency matters across adjacent panels, neither is ideal — 5005 alebo 6063 are the usual choices. For functional (ťažké) eloxovanie, 6061 is commonly specified.

Cena a dostupnosť

Both are commodity alloys with wide availability, and prices are broadly comparable — with the usual caveats that price moves with the aluminium base and with gauge, miernosť, volume and lead time.

Availability differences do exist: 6061 is more commonly stocked in plate and in extrusions; 5052 is more commonly stocked in sheet. For an unusual combination, check availability before committing.

FAQ

Je 6061 silnejší ako 5052? áno, significantly. 6061-T6 has roughly 40% higher tensile strength and about 50% higher yield strength than 5052-H32.

Je 6061 stiffer than 5052? Nie. Both have essentially the same elastic modulus (~ 69 GPA). Switching from 5052 do 6061 does not make a part stiffer — only changing the section geometry does. This is a very common misconception.

Which is better for marine use? 5052, clearly. Its magnesium content gives far better seawater and salt-spray resistance. For structural marine service, 5083 alebo 5086 are preferred over both.

Which welds better? 5052. 6061 can be welded, but the heat-affected zone loses a substantial proportion of its T6 strength, which must be accounted for in the design.

Which machines better? 6061, by a wide margin. 5052 is gummy and produces long chips and poorer finishes.

Can 6061-T6 be bent? áno, but with a significantly wider minimum bend radius than 5052. Tight bends in T6 will crack. Consider forming in a softer temper and heat treating afterwards.

Which should I use for a boat? 5052 for general marine sheet metal and components. 5083 for hull plating and structural work. 6061 is used for some marine fittings and machined parts, but is not the choice for hull structure.

Are they the same price? Broadly comparable, both tracking the aluminium base price. Differences come from gauge, miernosť, objem, lead time and stock availability rather than from the alloy itself.

Can I substitute one for the other?
